You want everything to go smoothly on your wedding day and having a well-stocked emergency kit will go a long way towards your peace of mind. Mine had the following items:
Safety pins
Lint roller
Stain removal pen
Sewing kit
Makeup remover
Q-tips and cotton balls
Lip balm
Mascara and lipstick
Setting powder
Hand lotion
Gum
Mouthwash
Dental floss
Tylenol
PeptoBismol tablets
Tissues
Bandaids
Clear nail polish
Nail file
Small scissors
Contact lens solution and extra lens case
Bobby pins
Hairspray
Sunscreen
Deodorant
Perfume
Sunglasses
A bit of cash
Driver's license
Hand sanitizer
My bridesmaid's cell phone
Print out of the wedding day schedule and my speech
Hair flower to put in at the reception
Flat shoes to change into at the reception
Granola bars and bottled water
House keys
It looks like a lot, but I was able to find travel sizes for most of these and all of the personal care items fit into a cute travel case from Joe Fresh.
I had two bags with me: a large one to hold the travel case, shoes and snacks, and a smaller one to carry my sunglasses, sunscreen and hairspray while we were getting portraits taken at SFU. During the reception, we hid the whole thing under the head table for easy access.
One thing I would add is a light wrap or sweater if you plan to be outside or near water. While it was sunny in Vancouver for our ceremony, at SFU the weather was very chilly and the girls would have been much more comfortable with an extra layer.
