Favour Finds

We live in a great time if you happen to be planning a wedding. Of course you can go the traditional route with Jordan Almonds (what exactly are these?!)

But you also have tons of other options! If you're feeling more adventurous, guest favours could be something practical, something charitable, something edible or something natural like flower seeds or birdseed.

If you're looking for a memento, check out Beau Coup favours for salt and pepper shakers, bottle openers, photo coasters and much much more -- including personalized lip balm!

Many couples choose to make a charitable donation in lieu of guest favours. This could be to honour a loved one or reflect the causes close to your heart. The Canadian Cancer Society will provide place cards, bookmarks, celebration boxes or reception certificates to let your guests know about your donation.

My personal favourite for wedding favours are the edible kind. It's convenient for travelling guests, minimizes waste and can be customized to you personalities or the season. Try jams for a summer wedding, candy apples for a fall occasion or hot chocolate for wintertime.  Friends of ours had homemade caramel corn for guests and it was a big hit :)

If you decide to go the DIY route, Martha Stewart has an impressive collection of ideas for edible favours, favour displays and creative packaging.

We'll be going with homemade chocolate chip cookies as our guest favours. Bridesmaid K helped me with a taste test and we decided on Dorie Greenspan's Best Chocolate Chip Cookies. They're slightly crispy with a chewy centre and a great version of this classic cookie.
