Some work individually (and will bring a second shooter if you'd like), some are husband and wife teams and some are studios that employ several photographers. J and I were looking for 2 photographers with 8 hours of wedding day coverage. We wanted an unobtrusive approach that was focused on capturing genuine emotions and an interesting portrait style. I was really drawn to photographers that used vibrant colours and lots of natural light.
We decided that an engagement session was a must and chose to stick with independent photographers instead of studios. It was very important to us that the photographer provided a disk of high resolution images from the engagement and wedding sessions. Initially, I thought we could print our own albums from the images on disk and then I saw some photographers' albums and fell in love! These albums are handmade treasures designed to last a lifetime and include professionally edited images.
The photographers we met with were professional, friendly and passionate. We chose a photographer that respects each couple as individuals and focuses on capturing the unique moments that make every relationship and every wedding special. She will offer professional guidance but is flexible and open to our vision for the day. She has worked with friends of ours and comes highly recommended. She has a great selection of wedding packages and can make custom packages too. And her name is... Amber Hughes!
