The Return of Girly Fun Times

This weekend, the wedding dress adventure turned to New Westminster's Bridal Row, a stretch of Columbia street with a bridal store every 15 feet or so. We narrowed down the choices to two: Lisa's Bridal Salon and Sposa Wedding World.

Lisa's is a large store that carries sizes from 2 to plus size with a maximum price of $2500. Dresses are organized mostly by style into sections for ballgowns, satin and taffeta gowns and lighter destination wedding dresses. We found many styles here that weren't available at Bryan's Bride or Bello, as this store seems to specialize in couture gowns with more elaborate beading and design details. They also have a nice range of dresses with halter necklines, cap sleeves and straps.

The service at Lisa's was excellent! We were greeted promptly and my consultant Noor, who usually works in the alterations department, was patient, friendly and helpful. Even though the store was very busy and consultants were exchanging dresses back and forth between customers, Noor made sure I always had a dress available to try on. The dressing area is essentially a large room divided into four sections separated by seating areas outside each room, which means that when you come out in a dress, you are on display for all the other brides shopping that day. This is a good opportunity to spot dresses that you may have missed in the racks and I traded quite a few dresses with other customers during my appointment. My one complaint is the layout of mirrors in the dressing area, as we had to juggle a small hand mirror for me to see the back of each dress.

While I won't be purchasing my gown from Lisa's, we will return to shop the huge selection of bridesmaid and mother of the bride dresses. They also offer lots of great accessories, from veils and shoes to jewellery, gloves and belts to add that special touch to your gown.

Here are a few lovelies similar to the ones I tried:
